Rambunctious. Having not been told what would be considered the normal right and wrongs of society because her father was never big on them either, Devi tends to act out rather childishly at times. She is very much a child on the inside, prone to moments of utter child like goofballishness, and fits of laughter at the little things in life. Something many people say she inherited from her father, general consensus is that he grew up, but never actually matured.
Brave. Sometimes it borders on foolishness and gets people wondering why the Sorting Hat didn’t just go on and place her in Gyffindor. Devi is quick to volunteer for things most people would be put off by, be it because it’s slightly disgusting or just dangerous, she’s always been told to live life to the fullest and never hold back. At the same time though, it’s also a matter of knowledge, learning through experience even if the experience seems particularly painful.
Intelligent. Devi is a smart girl in more ways then just book smarts. Even simply at the age of sixteen she feels she has a good handle on life and the general wit it takes to get by living, a product of her mother skipping out when she was little. She understands that not everything is roses and rainbows, no along with the general sharp wit and quick mind Dev feels that she has a pretty good idea of how things work in general.
Clown. At the end of the day, how can she not be? Most things are thought of as games to her because if she doesn’t find the fun angel on something, doesn’t manage to coax a laugh here and there then all she’s left with is the knowledge that the world can be a painfully bleak place. And there’s nothing worse then sitting around feeling sorry for yourself, at least that’s what her father always told her. Go out and find the laughter and the joy in life, the sadness has a tendency of finding people no matter what, one doesn’t need to go around inviting it in.
And maybe when you get back
History::
Born April 1st to the one and only Zonko and his wife almost ensured just what type of person Devi would be when she grew up, that being a complete and utter prankster. Her father used to joke that if she had been a boy, her name would have automatically been Loki in honor of the of the Norse Trickster god because even as a young child she would pull pranks on the other kids in the neighborhood. Her mother never appreciated that, but her father thought it to be in good fun and would even whisper ideas in her ears when her mother wasn’t looking.
When she was around seven her father took her to his shop for the very first time, and the phrase ‘child in a toy store’ just didn’t do her justice. She ran around looking at everything on the shelves and everything in the back asking what did what, how it did that, and what else someone could get it to do. Her eyes as wide as saucers as she looked in awe at all he prank items there and absorbed every piece of information her father told her as if she was a sort of sponge.
Everyday from then on was spent helping her father come up with new ideas and perfect old ones, sure she didn’t actually get to do much, as she was still so young but he did take her input into account as his biggest target audience was children and teenagers. Of course this all meant that she needed to practice and perfect the art of pranking as her father once had, and just about everyone in an immediate mile radius became a prime target including her mother. Zonko would normally help with those, thinking that maybe his wife would loosen up, instead she did the exact opposite.
One day the missus finally snapped, they had dropped a prototype water resistant dung bomb in the water she had been boiling for some stew and the woman went off on them both when she found them giggling and laughing in another room. Things didn’t last very long after that and one day they came home to find she had cleaned out all her belongings and left without a word, only later did they find out she had run off to America with some other wizard. But Dev’s father took it in stride, or did his best to seem like he did and taught his daughter to do much the same, things were a bit more chaotic at the home for a while but when Devi received her acceptance letter for Hogwarts, Zonko was overjoyed and things calmed back into their usual not-so-chaotic-chaotic self.
